What is Tango Young?
Tango Young is a network of teachers and dancers involving many associations throughout Europe, born from an innovative project aimed specifically at young people.
Objective: TANGO ARGENTINO!
- Aimed at young individuals from 18 to 35 years,
- Discounts 20% ~ 40% compared to standard fees,
- Special programs and methods.
The goal of this project is to bring young people closer to Argentine tango, a dance rooted in history that embodies improvisation, elegance, and passion. With your participation, we can innovate and pass on all the elements that make Tango one of the world’s most renowned dances.
The dance starts with a simple embrace and walk and evolves from there, with very few rules limiting the boundaries of improvisation, where one person leads, and one person follows. You will be guided throughout your journey by young and professional teachers, who are passionate about passing on this wonderful discipline.
It is worth noting that those who already know and dance Tango are more than welcome to join us, as it will add more depth and enrich the experience for everyone.
Beginning of the Tango Young Project
One summer evening, after a long milonga that lasted until dawn, Giovanni Eredia and Giovanni Filocamo had an idea of the project. From this moment, the crucial components of the project began to take shape. Our approach involves:
- teaching from the basics,
- enabling the joy of exploration,
- fostering connections between people in a genuine network of ideas,
- passing the knowledge in a tangible, modern and authentic way.
After a long phase of planning, Giovanni Eredia put the project into action in 2013-2014 at a famous cultural spot in Florence. The main goal was to teach young people about Argentine Tango in a way that connects with their lifestyle and expectations, using effective methods.
About Tango
The Argentine tango originated in the late 19th century in the working-class neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was influenced by various cultural and musical elements, including African rhythms, European immigrant music, and the indigenous milonga dance. At first, the dance was considered scandalous and was associated with the marginalized and criminal underworld. However, by the early 20th century, it gained popularity among the middle and upper classes in Argentina and eventually spread throughout the world, becoming one of the most iconic and beloved dance styles in history. Today, the Argentine tango continues to captivate dancers and audiences with its intricate footwork, passionate expression, and intimate connection between partners.
Tango in Buenos Aires connects all the generations and naturally includes young people to the community and becomes part of their culture. Over the past decades it has evolved into a social and cultural expression that brings people from all backgrounds together, creating friendships and networks. Despite this, promoting tango as a cultural heritage among young people in other countries has proven to be challenging. This project aims to tackle this issue:
To break down the cultural barriers that prevent young people from entering the tango world that can give them so much.
