After I created the Tango Gift Guide 2021 , I didn’t think I would have enough ideas to make another similar post. But I decided to make a note whenever I thought: ‘Oh! It might be a good gift idea!’. In July, I already had a full list. That was easy. But I must warn you there might be no 2023 TGG. I think I exhausted the one-fits-all ideas. This years Tango Gift Guide is much more practical, but maybe that’s even better. And again, I recommend mainly things I own or at least have seen, just like last year. I grouped them in four categories: 1. For Her & For Him – a mix of practical and beautiful things. 2. Socks aficionado – all about socks – this category kind a reveal that socks are having a special spot in my heart ;D 3. Art & Culture – an extensive selection of gifts a tango dancer might enjoy. 4. Maratoneiro – when the gift recipient is already far along on hers/his tango journey and often travels to tango events.
Without further ado, enjoy!
1. For Her & For Him
1. Earrings from a small local brand – here: Millary . They are entirely handmade by her, and she puts a lot of love into them! Here’s the shop linked, but go ahead and check her IG, there are the newest pieces.2. Merino wool T-shirt Merino wool absorbs odor molecules and only releases them upon washing. No matter how hot it is, you’ll feel fresh all milonga long.3. L-cut undershirt from Lespirant Invented by tanguero for tangueros! Anti-bacterial, sweat-absorbent, and invisible under dress shirts thanks to its unique frontless design. The L-Cut comes in 3 colors: a nude, bronze, and dark skin tone to remain invisible even under a white shirt for everyone in the world. Under the link waits an 8% discount for you! 4. Jewellery box for traveling small but mighty. It keeps little pieces from becoming tangled.5. Boot trees . I was wondering how does it happen that my boyfriend has a pair of tango shoes five times longer than me (or more). Ok, I am dancing more. And yes, sandals with high heels are much more delicate than solid footwear. But here is one thing that he is using, and I don’t – Boot trees. Buy the cedar ones -that wood does some serious anti-bacterial job.
2. Socks Aficionado
6. Cashmere stockings My game changers of the cold season. Wearing them to a milonga eliminates the strange sport of removing tights in a coeducational changing room. Plus they are sexy 🙂7. Compression socks My discovery from 2022. In the last months, I have danced a lot at weekend events, and sometimes my calves and feet were swollen and painful already on Friday. Compression socks bring immediate relief and speed up the regeneration process. They are also perfect for longer journeys because they vitalize the calf muscles. This counteracts a feeling of heaviness in the legs after long trips. 8. Colorful socks for men That’s a classic. Socks with no extra features. Just beautiful. A discreet way to show you love crazy prints. 9. Merino socks Exactly the same advantages as the merino wool T-shirt (look at point number 2). But for feet.10. Dancesocks When you want to dance in your chucks, but you need to PIVOT!!
3. Art & Culture
11. An art piece from Gina Anders Her paintings and drawings are very expressionistic. The designs are created on paper, but they can also be made into T-shirts or dresses. Ask her directly via Facebook.12. Paper Calendar To sign up for the tango events on time. 13. Tanguerogame – board game. “Become the best Tanguero in the Milonga by making the figures on the board, accumulating as many gems as possible” – That must be fun. IGame is available only in Italian, but on the website there are rules also in English. 14. Mate or accesories to drink mate Mate is probably the healthiest drink on earth. Find one that is grown in the rainforest from a small organic brand. A good mate contains caffeine and lots of minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium, which have a stimulating effect. Meta mate is a great example.15. Pretty notebook for tango notes. The one source of truth of every tanguer@. I love all the paper products from Carta Pura. 16. Ticket to a tango show That’s a classic. Forever Tango is known as the most-watched tango show in the history, and the show where the best dancers pass through.
4. Maratoneiro
17. Cosmetics in a bar Good for the planet, and good for packing for a weekend trip. Lush is known for their great choice of soaps and shampoos and other products in a bar.18. Massage gun If there’s no massage place around and the muscle soreness asks for pressure and release. Black roll is a renown brand for sport massage devices.19. Fancy water bottle Every event has this water stand with tens of the same paper cups signed with the owner’s name. It takes some time until you find your own. That’s why I travel with my reusable bottle and I hope nobody will have the same. Memobottle is the prettiest I have ever seen. I should add it to my wishlist 🙂 20. Voucher for a massage Probably the best gift for everyone ever. Thai, Classic, Lomi-lomi. When in Cracow, ask Zofia if she has free slots for lomi-lomi massage. She does magic.21. Steamer For a person who hates wrinkles on hers/his clothes and always needs to re-iron clothes after taking them out from a suitcase. I can’t recommend any, as I don’t hate wrinkles that much 🙂22. Silk eye mask Practically, it just blocks out the light, but for a tired of dancing all night dancer, wearing a silk eye mask will be like a true luxury.
